Here is a link to the Oasis Citi Map of our area:

http://www.oasisnyc.net/OASISMap.asp?name=OASIS+Map&Left=1056197&Bottom=218175&Right=1057221&Top=219199&xMin=&xMax=&yMin

You will need to know your block and lot number.  This is on your real estate tax bill, your water bill, and is also available at the Department of Buildings website http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/html/bis/bis.shtml  Simply fill in your borough, house number and street number/name and click 'submit'.  Your block and lot will be on the page that opens on the upper right-hand side.

On the Oasis map site, using the 'zoom in' tool, zoom in closer on your block.  Keep zooming in until you can see the individual lots.  Click on the 'identify' tool and then click on your lot number on your block.
Be advised that the "land use" which says "one and two family homes" is not your zoning.  It is something another department of the city uses.  In R1-2 and R2 and the proposed R2a, the actual land use is singles family detached homes.  You will be looking for the Floor Area Ratio and the Max. Allowable Floor Area Ratio.  If your Floor Area ratio is less than the Max. Allowable Floor Area Ratio, then you can enlarge your home.  If your Floor Area Ratio is the same as the Max. Allowable Floor Area Ratio, you cannot enlarge your home.  If your Floor Area Ratio is larger than the Max. Floor Area Ratio, don't worry.  You can't enlarge but you will never be asked to make your home smaller no matter if it is the proposed new R2a zone or the existing zone.

After you look up your home and get your information, have fun with the map.  You can click on a box on the right-hand side and see an aerial photo of your block, or an infrared aerial photo.  You can go to the dropdown on the top left and choose other map themes to look at.
