The
Little Neck Pines Civic Association, a not-for-profit corporation, was formed on September 3, 1987 by a group
of concerned Little Neck residents who wished to preserve the character
and quality of our neighborhood, as well as respond to impending
construction by outside developers.
The
first meeting, held on September 21, 1987, was prompted by problems
arising from the demolition of perfectly sound neighborhood one-family
homes to be replaced by high-density multiple dwellings.
Later
that same year, a State charter was granted to the Little Neck Pines Civic
Association. Regular meetings continued, addressing the zoning of our
neighborhood. The quest didn’t end. Finally in April, 2000, with help
from several politicians and community board leaders, a zoning change was
passed (R3-2 to R3-1). This is an example of what the Little Neck Pines
Civic
Association can do and will continue to do. The Association is not just
here for today’s issues but for ongoing concerns in our neighborhood.
Please
join and support us.
We are here to protect our investments in our community!

Tree
Planting on Northern Blvd.
Little Neck Pines Civic Association
finally realized the first part of it's dream of having a tree-lined
Northern Boulevard on May 19, 2005 when 3 trees were planted by us with
Borough President Helen Marshall and Barbara Nickel, a representative of
NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. We have been promised by the
Borough President's office that many more trees will be planted along
the boulevard this autumn which is a prime tree planting season.

Some important advice from State
Senator Frank Padavan about the "Cease & Desist" lists regarding
solicitation by Real Estate agencies. . .
Any homeowner who was included on
the "Cease and Desist" lists prior to September of 2004, will have to
submit a new owner's statement to once again be included on the list.
Owner's statements can be obtained by contacting one of Senator
Padavan's offices, or by logging onto
www.frankpadavan.com and
clicking on the link on the right-hand side of the home-page.
"People must remember to sign up
again or they'll be inundated with these solicitations," Senator Padavan
said. "This is another victory for homeowners. I know that in the past
my offices have signed up more than 13,000 homeowners. We'll be here to
help do it again."
This link will take you to the proper page. Scroll down to the bottom
to access the form.

In his quest to
improve the quality of life in Northeast Queens, Councilman Tony Avella
hired Urban Planning Consultant Paul Graziano to review the current zoning
in City Council District 19. Paul is an activist and preservationist and
took this job for a very small fee because, living in the Flushing area
where so much damage has been done, the future of the District 19 area is
very important to him.
Paul walked the entire district, mapping as
he went, the current status of housing in the district. This was quite an
undertaking!
Our President, Bob
Nobile, represented our civic association in a meeting with Councilman
Avella, Paul Graziano, and representatives of the following:
Andrew Ippolito New
Property Civic
Bayside Clear Spring
Council
Bayside Hills Civic
Association
Bay Terrace Community
Alliance
Bowne Park Civic
Association
Broadway Flushing
Homeowners
Community Board 7
Douglaston Civic
Association
East Bayside
Homeowners
Greater Whitestone
Taxpayer-Malba Association
John Golden Park
Block Association
Poppenhousen
Institute
Robinwood Property
Owners Association
Westomoreland Association
As stated in our
December newsletter – “The law that Councilman Avella is trying to change
will prevent community facilities from building in certain zoned areas.
This is why not only the law must be caged but the zoning areas as well.
These are steps necessary to carry out a plan for our future.”
Therefore, we have
posted 3 maps of our area and a letter for you to view.
Map 1 shows the existing zoning in Douglaston
and Little Neck. Map 2 shows the proposed
zoning for these areas. Map 3 shows
Douglaston/Little Neck Historic Resources. The
letter is a draft letter for you to send to City Officials for support.
If you can possibly copy the letter by hand and send it, that would be
great. If you can only cut and paste, so be it, it will still be a help.
We have learned in the past that one handwritten letter carries the weight
of at least 10 typed letters because of the time and effort that goes into
handwritten letters.
We must get our
message to City Hall that we want change and we can’t wait for anyone but
ourselves to change it. Thank you for your support! |

Tony Avella. Council Members from Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten

important bill and must be passed.
